After we stuff ourselves with turkey, potatoes and cranberries, we'll have just over a month remaining till we say goodbye to 2013. The act of letting go of a year is always a bit hard to think about - at least it is for me. I anticipate the opportunities waiting in the new; yet, I get stuck on the moments that I could have handled in a different way. There is no going back, no reverse button.
That's why I'm taking time to reflect on this SIG and how we've progressed through the second half of 2013. We restarted the journey in July, curious and open. Month by month we gather to discuss, learn, explore and chat. Are we being effective? Am I, as the SIG Leader, presenting enough information that you can use? Am I being clear?
My next thoughts focus on where we want to go. What are your goals? By knowing these I can stay on track. If I don't then it's easy to lose sight of our direction. I'd rather shelve part of my ideas and use them in different ways than to see participants feel frustrated because they can't get the information needed. I truly want people to feel successful and feel important to the SIG.
Therefore, I hope you know that I appreciate people showing up for meetings. Weather, other committments, health and time are all factors that can prevent this from happening. Yet, we have individuals who find a way around life and show up. For those that register, I thank you. It's a nice surprise to receive a message that tells me you're coming. For the ones who listen to me at the KIPCIG General Meeting, I thank you for your time and questions. Those that support me in different way, I offer my heartfelt thanks because without you I wouldn't have this role.
