Dream analyzers believe that driving a car in your dreams means change is taking place. The beginning of a year is a good time to start changes, and it's popular because of the fresh start. What changes will you pla? We'll be making some with the SIG. I wanted to share a few of these thoughts with you.
First, nothing is set in stone. I'm flexible and believe in meeting needs more than sticking with ideas that may not work. Second, the plans aren't dramatic. Third, my goals are the same: present the information you need to be the best photographer possible and to be clear in what I present.
Now for the ideas! I'd like to do split the meeting in half. Perhaps the first part could be practice. I can bring in random items for you to snap pictures of, or you can bring in some. It's simple to construct a large light box and background. Maybe we can work on those at the January meeting and I can bring these each time. The second half could focus on a few terms, tips and techniques. This leaves us free to practice together and take attendees when they can make it - not just at 6:30 when I'm trying to start the meeting.
For the content, I'd like to arrange it in themes. These could be editing, organization, techniques, etc. I'm not seeing many photos coming in for display and discussion. I'm wondering if it would be better to have this at one meeting as the focus topic. This would be instead of talking about other parts of digital photography and we wouldn't have time set aside at each meeting - just one every few months.
Would an editing SIG help? I know we have many SIGs each month and people are busy. The holidays aren't open enough to start an idea like this one. Thus, we could aim for a time in February or even March. This doesn't have to be set right now. At the editing SIG, whatever I call it, we would focus less on general terms and more on what to do with the photos. This could be creative or not, it depends on what you want and it would be hands-on instead of a presentation style.
I hope you take the time to consider my thoughts and let me know what you think. We can try these and see how they work. If they're beneficial, we'll put them in place. If not, we'll return to square one and try again.
